Hello, there.

A

My name is Abigail (Abbee) Hanson. After working at Sand Castle Counseling for 7 years, I opened Linden Blossom Counseling, LLC in July 2024.

My passion is to help teens, adults, and families tackle life’s curveballs with the grace of a cat landing on its feet - healthy, effective, and maybe even with a little style. I believe that any solid relationship begins with trust, compassion, and a safe space where you can just be your wonderful self. I believe in client-directed work - with individuals setting the pace and taking responsibility for their work. It is very difficult to engage in self-discovery work, so taking that first brave step and trusting me to be your guide? That’s pretty amazing, and honestly, a true honor. Let’s get started!

I have over 17 years of experience working in the mental health field, including in-home, hospital, residential, community, and school settings.  I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and then further expanded upon my interests in therapy with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work.  I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Pennsylvania.

Although I was trained as a child/play therapist, my current practice interests include adolescents, young adults, and adults. I hold a special interest and personal expertise in adult adoptees, including those from international and trans-racial adoptions. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, and ADHD disorders. I welcome folks who are exploring their identity spectrum, as well as the LGBTQ+ community.

In sessions, I utilize strengths-based approaches including Humanistic, Mindfulness-based interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Sand play, and Creative/Expressive art interventions.

I encourage everyone on the quest for self-discovery or self-improvement to reach out. Think of it as a judgement-free zone where your quirks are celebrated, your growth is supported, and the only thing you need to bring is your authentic self—no assembly required! Let's embark on this journey together with kindness, humor, and plenty of encouragement.
